Individual Therapy for Adults in Michigan
You’re the one who holds it all together. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy.
People count on you. You handle what needs to get done. And even when you’re overwhelmed, you find a way to keep going. But maybe your mind never gives you a break. You replay conversations, worry about what comes next, or pick apart everything you think you did wrong. Rest comes with guilt. Small tasks feel harder than they should. Or you’re getting through the day without feeling connected to much of it.
You deserve somewhere you don’t have to hold everything together.
What’s happening beneath the surface?
You might recognize yourself in some of these experiences:
Pressure and burnout. Being dependable has turned into being available for everyone, all the time. You’re exhausted, but slowing down feels impossible.
Anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and rumination. Unwanted thoughts show up, “what ifs” take over, or you keep returning to the same worry without getting closer to an answer.
Depression and disconnection. You feel low, numb, irritable, or less interested in things that used to matter. You may still be functioning, but it takes more effort than people realize.
ADHD and overwhelm. Getting started, staying organized, managing time, or following through can feel like a daily struggle. You know what you want to do, but doing it is another story.
Negative thinking and self-talk. You’re quick to notice your mistakes and slow to give yourself credit. The way you speak to yourself leaves little room to be human.
You don’t need to relate to every one of these experiences. We’ll focus on what’s happening for you.
A space to be yourself. Support to do something differently.
You can show up tired, frustrated, uncertain, or without the right words. You don’t have to make your story sound better before you tell it. Your priorities guide our work. We’ll talk about what you want to change, what feels manageable, and what support you need. You have a say in the direction and pace of therapy.
I’m not a nod-and-smile therapist. I’m down to earth, involved, and honest. I’ll listen closely, help you make sense of what’s happening, and gently push when it could help you move toward the changes you want.
Sometimes we need to understand a pattern. Sometimes we need to practice a skill, try a different response, or take one manageable step. We’ll make room for both understanding and action.
What do you need from therapy?
Some days, you need space to untangle what’s going on. Other days, you want help figuring out what to do next. We can make room for both. You bring the knowledge of your own life. I bring clinical experience, honest questions, and practical tools. Together, we’ll decide what to work toward and how to get there.
My work is person-centered and solution-focused, drawing on CBT, DBT skills, and mindfulness. That might mean working through harsh self-talk, finding ways to manage overwhelming emotions, or taking a manageable step toward something you’ve been avoiding.
We won’t use the same tool for every situation. We’ll pay attention to what helps you, talk openly about what doesn’t, and adjust along the way.
You don’t have to wait until you can’t keep going.
Wanting something to feel different is enough reason to reach out.
