Owner & Clinician of Unfiltered Healing Therapy
Hi, I'm Vickie.
I’m a social worker. I’m a therapist. I’m a mom. I’m a wife. And I’m a real person who believes therapy should feel like a conversation with a real person, not a clinical interrogation.I created Unfiltered Healing Therapy because I wanted to create a space where people can actually show up as themselves.
No pretending.
No perfect words.
No cleaning up your story before you tell it.
Just real conversations about real life.
I’m a high school social worker AND a private practice therapist.
And honestly, I think that matters.
For the past several years, I’ve worked alongside teenagers, families, teachers, administrators, and school teams. I see what teens are actually dealing with, not just what makes it into a therapy session.
Anxiety. Pressure. Friendships. Relationships. School avoidance. Family conflict. Sports. Academic expectations. Feeling overwhelmed. Saying “I’m fine” when they’re anything but fine.
I understand the school side AND the therapy side.
And that perspective comes with me into my work with teens.
I don't only work with teenagers.
I work with teens 12+, adults, and couples throughout Michigan through virtual therapy.
Adults who are exhausted from overthinking. People who feel burned out but keep pushing. People trying to manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationships, or simply feeling like they’ve gotten stuck somewhere along the way.
And couples who are tired of having the same argument, feeling disconnected, or wondering how they got so far from each other.
Wherever you are, we start there.
What kind of therapist am I?
I’m kind, solution-focused, practical, and direct.
I don’t want you to spend months talking about the same problem without feeling like anything is changing. Sometimes you need to understand why you feel the way you do. But eventually, we also need to ask:
“Okay. So what are we going to do about it?”
That’s where I come in. I help people identify what is keeping them stuck, recognize patterns that aren't working, and figure out what they can actually do differently. That might mean learning how to manage anxiety instead of letting anxiety run the show. Breaking out of overthinking. Setting boundaries. Communicating differently. Changing a pattern in a relationship. Finding practical ways to cope when life feels like too much.
I use approaches including CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy, but I don’t believe therapy should be a one-size-fits-all process.
You’re a person. Not a worksheet.
Why “Unfiltered”?
I chose the name Unfiltered Healing Therapy because I believe therapy works best when both people get to show up as they really are. You don't have to filter yourself for me.You can be overwhelmed. Angry. Confused. Emotional. You can tell me the thing you’re embarrassed to say out loud. You can say, “I know this sounds ridiculous, but...”You don't have to have the perfect words or a perfectly organized story. And I don't believe I should have to filter myself either.I’m not going to sit across from you and pretend to be someone I’m not.I’m a real person talking with another real person.I’ll be honest. I’ll laugh with you. I’ll ask hard questions. I’ll challenge you when I think it could help.Because therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff or scripted to be meaningful. That’s Unfiltered.
Raw Conversations. Real Breakthroughs.
If you're feeling stuck...
You don't have to know exactly what you need before you reach out.
